The Simple Ritual

Fewer steps, fewer switches

Fewer steps, fewer switches

Two products every day, a mist when you want one, a mask once a week. The point is not minimalism for its own sake. Skin that reacts to change gives you much clearer information once you stop changing things.

The routine, in order

  1. Step 1 · Cleanse

    Enriched Foaming Cleanser

Once or twice a day, gently, with lukewarm water. Leave physical scrubs alone while you are settling into a routine.

  2. Step 2 · Mist (optional)

    Soothing Lavender Face Mist

After cleansing, or any point during the day. Useful in dry air and easy to keep at a desk.

  3. Step 3 · Moisturize

    Face Moisturizing Cream

The same one, every day. Consistency is doing most of the work in this routine.

  4. Weekly · Mask

    Clay Mask — Sensi-Derm

Once a week at most, following the directions on its product page, and rinse fully.

Each product page carries its own complete ingredient list and directions. Read them there before purchasing.

Why changing less tells you more

If you swap three products in a fortnight and something changes, you have no way of knowing which one did it. Holding a routine steady for a month is the only way to attribute anything to anything. It is also considerably cheaper.

Patch testing, briefly

Before a new product goes on your face, put a small amount on the inner forearm and leave it a day. That is a sensible general habit when you are introducing anything new, rather than a statement about any particular formula.

Quick answers

How long should I hold a routine before changing it?

About four weeks, and change one product at a time.

Do I need the mask?

No. It is a weekly extra, not a step. The routine works without it.

Is a face mist doing anything?

It puts water on the surface. Whether that is useful to you depends on your climate and your preference.

Where do I read the complete formula?

On each product page. Every complete ingredient list is published there — read it before purchasing.
