Body skin is thicker than facial skin and generally takes richer textures well, which is why a whipped butter that would feel heavy on a face is comfortable on arms and legs. The best moment to use any of it is straight out of a shower, on skin that is still slightly damp. You are holding water that is already there rather than trying to add it later.

Bar soap deserves a word, since it spent years with a bad reputation. Modern bars are formulated to feel far gentler than the drying bars people remember, and they travel without leaking. Ours come in charcoal, turmeric, tea tree, eucalyptus and peppermint, and lavender and rosemary.

Self-tan is the one product here that rewards preparation: exfoliate first, moisturize dry areas like knees and elbows, work in thin sections, and wash your hands when you are done. Full directions are on the product page.
